WIP Alpharius - Legion Epistolary

My most extensively converted true scale marine to date. This warrior mystic will be my count as Chief Librarian Tigurius for allied marine continent or possibly eventually a full Legion army using Codex Space Marines. I like how the B&W photos merge GS and plastic. Human WIPs for scale.

  1. Almost cheating to use a puny Empire Archer for scale, but having seen all your other stuff, I'm sure he'll be impressive.
Looking forward to see progress here, and even more to se what you will do when Codex Inquisition comes.

    1. He is just as big as the others. Cheating seems like an odd choice of words. Most of the human models in the entire army are from Empire models for the exact purpose that they have humoresque physique compared to most 40k stuff. The squad of Cadians I have built got custom heads with GS helmets from the Perry Twins ranges to fit them in. This whole project would be a cheat ;) Marines cheated to their right proportions and scale and humans to theirs.

    2. "humanesque" physique, not humoresque :)

  2. Looking good Migs. Since every one else is blue what will you be doing to make him stand out? besides the bling :)

Is it possible to get a colour pic at the end, I agree the look of the pic is great, but I'd just like to see what is actually GS.

    1. He will get a tad darker blue scheme, but also the skulls and the staff will be painted to really stand out, and the tabard is likely to be green with scale patterns painted on.

  3. Very nice! Your truescale marines are an inspiration to us all.

  4. He is looking great. The only comment I do have though is the left arm, thanks to the true scaling, seems to need a little more work as it doesn't look like it lines up neatly in the bottom picture?

    1. Thanks, I lined it up the way I felt the pose worked with the original sculpted hands, which were thankfully long :) Getting the shoulder guards to a perfect place for both the arms and the body/backpack is sometime a bit tricky.

  5. Nice work. Looking forward to seeing this painted... but I am more interested in what you are going to do with the two empire bodies. "Human" figures are more exciting to me.

    1. I have a dozen human figures in the works! More bolted acolytes, a few crusaders, two plasma cannon servitors... very cool stuff :)

  6. Nice one Migs. Looking good and I like the collection of skulls he has.

I am with Paul Smith regarding the left arm. Where the bicep armour meets the under-shoulder pad looks a little out....as in his bicep armour is coming out of his chest.

    1. What can I say? The arm goes to the socket in the chest, and looks like a very nicely sculpted arm with decent proportions. I think it's the angle. You don't see where his elbow is pointing at.

  7. Very cool to see such a detailed figure true-scaled. Have you ever thought about using some of the Forgeworld marine bits in your conversions?

    1. Thanks.

I have. They are hard to get for me though - FW doesn't accept Amex and their online store shuts down my other CC. No paypal either. I've emailed them about it but did not even get a reply.

    1. Pricing is getting quite rude. But I am happy the company is ding well and hope they stick around for decades.
