Skitarii Praetorian Centurions

I know I released the first of these to mixed reactions, but having just finished the squad ready for painting I am very excited about them. The right paint job that emphasizes their weight and the materials combined with the scale that goes missing with out reference is going to make this a great looking part of the Army that adds another important point in the range of scale in the force.

With out further ado:

“Praetorians are the absolute elite of  Skitarii (the official term for Mechanicus military forces), augmented with a sophisticated array of bionics and powered suits of armour. The Centurions are heavy battle suit originally built for the Astartes fire support roles, but modified versions were created for the Skitarii and have become the hammer of many Praetorian missions”

  2. I think they're great! As I think you've mentioned yourself, one bonus of truescaling of your marines is that it allows you to use the regular sized ones to represent non-marine units. The chest-mounted weapons look suitably unwieldy and ad-hoc which fits the mechanicus aesthetic nicely. My only criticism would be the skulls on the back of the missile launches being turned the wrong angle and perhaps the iconography on their legs and chest being more astartes than mechanicus.

    1. Thanks. Yes - exactly - I can do a fair bit with the regular Space Marine plastics, possibly more Mechanicus troops. I think if I find away to change the "shoe design" and shoulder guards to something very mechanicus, together with the right heads and custom weapons they will work great.

Those skulls will be removed tonight - the missile boxes where the last thing I glued to place last night and I just overlooked the back detail. Thanks.

  3. How do these fit into your army list? Are they counting as something or are you allying in a marine force? I'm interested in how you are making use of the allies rules to create the different aspects of the army. I'm building an Adeptus Titanicus Skitarii force and am thinking of using the white scars rules for tracked praetorians and allied eldar for Thallax (wraithguard) and castellax (wraithlord) units.

    1. Hi Evan, The Mechanicus guys will build/lead into a small allied force that uses Codex Space Marine rules. I will in time have another full allied force of Imperial Guard. (already have a Russ, a Vendetta, a Veteran Guard guard and Marbo twins)The guard is what I am most desperate to add - and pray that GW releases a new plastic Regiment when they re do the book. Regiment with a little more finesse than the Cadians and scaled more like Empire models.
