DANGER :: Inquisitorial action imminent.

Oh dear,

Time may be right to start the final part of the trilogy.

Something happened this weekend - I got the idea for my third Inquisitor and POP, all of a sudden had the parts perfectly organized for him and the 4 henchmen. The most surreal modeling flow state where every idea was a very original mix of highly suitable concepts and themes. When ideas have been maturing in your head subconsciously for a long time, sometimes they rush out and it's thrilling. The model that started it was supposed to be something else...and is really not something that makes you think Inquisitor without modifications.

Well, lets see how it goes. My personal bar after Ugly and then Bad is VERY high for the Good and the most difficult concept to do justice to. I have a new and very different idea for the overall paint job too.

Migs

PS. I had decided it is time to revisit the Old Faithful Nurgle Lord. So I started building one and that impulse actually lead to the chain reaction above. Inquisitor Von Lochov just needs three plasma cannon "servitors". So this model has nothing to do with the trilogy - although I did entertain the idea - and then rejected it as each model across the trilogy really should be highly individual.

Hope you like the start of him. Plenty more work to do.

Breaking bad - sorry about the silence.

Guys,

Year 2013 has started insanely busy professionally and personally. Apart from finishing the Alter Daemon (mmmmm...) I have not had a single moment to spend on the models or to take photos. In fact I haven't even had the time to order or pick up the Dark Angels Codex. A heresy by my usual standards. I apologize and thank you for your patience.

It's been an extremely inspirational month however. And I do intend to return with a Vengeance.

With a caveat - it is a fact of life, now with two young children and extremely busy job that my hobby life will never be the same again. I think this is something number of us have to realize and reconcile. I think this deserves a proper blog entry one day. I've never been so acutely aware of the gap in perspective and realities with hobbyists with kids and without.

But until there is time for said entry, I wanted to share you a short film. An ad. A Super Bowl ad actually. It is the single most beautiful piece of creative work seen this year and will be a key inspiration and philosophical back bone for the third and final installment of the +I+nquititor trilogy. The good.

WIP update : Heroes and Villains

Almost ready to prime.

Both the Von Lochov Praetorian and the Devotee have since gotten fitting shoulder pad detailing that completely hides the Cadian feel. The trio, together with the Chastener (the dual pistol guy) and Servo-skull, both shown earlier, received a coat of primer today.

I like how the B&Ws hide what I sculpted and what is standard parts.

Devotee is heading for the BAD retinue. The +I+ not decided yet, the Praetorian is Legion, Von Lochov's personal Praetorian.

... stories will be written ....

WIP update : Legion, Good and Bad

Here's a random update of what's cooking. Adding to the mix a Leman Russ Demolisher 50% assembled.

You see here models that will end up in the Bad retinue, the very first concepts for the Good Retinue and Legion project (Space Marine squad and Von Lochov's retinue)

I'll try to focus so I can actually deliver something soon.

See how badly scaled the DA Librarian is to the Cultist models most of whom are actually a tad taller. This plays nicely for my project though. My own marines being "correctly" scaled to GW Background, I get to make good use of a lot of Space Marine parts/models for =I= projects. The Librarian will be a fine canvas for one.

+ Inquisitor Silas and the new recruits +

Mirror Master - Where is the mirror? Old, Wise beyond law, Erudite Extraordinaire, but how to remember thy minutia?

Tobias the Curze - Caretaker, Make sure master see no harm, solid slug for everyday, Enuncia for ordnance!

Chaide - Pelicanne, Man Bird, Haunted Hunter, The Weather!

At long last, The new additions are here. Well new and old. I had tremendous fun painting them. Taking fifteen minutes here and there. I still have some finishing work to do after varnish, but 99% they are done.

I've kept going back to the original +I+ rulebook for guidance. I've worked hard to maintain that feel and for these characters to be something if rendered by Blanche, Kopinski,  or Dainton that they would totally fit in. For each new character I had unique considerations, but ended up also wanting a somewhat common look for the three of them. Like I had for the first three.

It is now time to start planning how to play with these guys, where to find a new gang of crazy hobbyists to create a world and storyline worthy of the energy.

Next comes.

The Mirror - mirror mirror, dead or alive...

The Devout - Burn the Ministeric!

and of course, The Alterkin

Cant wait to show you more...

Chaide Pelicanne, Mirror Master and Caretaker Tobias, with a cool link!

PIP - I've been stealing small moments of time to paint these characters and having hell of a time. There will be delicious little sub themes and pairings in the Retinue. Chaide will hunt with Valencia. Valencia actually has two of his feathers on her hair for you keen eyed followers.

Mirror Master will have two minders, first whom I tried to be as "normal" as one can be in this retinue. Sense of normality, in scale and equipment is very important when everyone else is so unique and a tad over the top. Both the master and minder have very wicked faces and a success with the eyes in particular.

I should have all three of these finished in a week or so.

One of the secrets of my late surge in production is the now fully functioning, desk of my dreams. I have everything there, ready to go for a 10 minute session if need be, and need no cleaning, other than closing a drawer or two :)

The fact that the whole table and setup oozes what the hobby is all about for me makes getting in the right mood very easy. I'm surrounded by hand picked objects that are all about good design, and great craftsmanship or a nostalgic form of industrial production.

The Fact that my current projects grow on the top is a great motivator, and I can pull them down for reference in seconds. I highly recommend you make the effort to create the right desk setup for yourself. And if you are serious about producing beautiful models, art, work... then it would be plain wrong if beauty isn't a key driver for the desk.

Finally,

Sometimes I find something so damn cool and gothic, that it just makes me want to raise the quality of my own work and produce. I've known Cedric's work for what must be close to a decade now. We've both grown from enthusiastic converters to "artists" with a very distinct approach and ambition.

This thing right here is so damn cool... fits what I had in mind for the "good" continent of the trilogy very well. (In spirit, not in object)

All three finished, and the solution & background for showcase pictures was staring me all along...

Here goes - feedback most appreciated!

Pelicanne / Chaide / Horificus (WIP)

Pelicanne / Chaide / Horificus

Hunt, hunt,

Run, run,

Fly, fly,

The Girl with the machine eyes and the Pelicanne.

Feathered pan, wide like a Russ. Oh it can. Kill them no fuss.

Tall and thin, she carries his every whim. Together they say, none can get away.

Mirror, mirror, where is the pray. Mirror, mirror Reveal the way.

Bad in progress.

The legion project I've pretty much painted without a single highlighting step. So taking those learnings and adding to it the new freedom of not being under the Rhisienne twin moons. These pics show how I need to drive the warp and the red on the whole gang. A challenge I would not have had I not gone so crazy with the Inquisitor.

I am actually very close to finished at the time of writing this, but pics will have to wait until daylight tomorrow. These two I took earlier.

The dynamic of the Gang is taking shape too. Notice the hint in posing of Silas puppeteering his two priced toys. Yet to figure out where exactly I will go with the group dynamic. So many interesting things in flight just now.

after this photo, 75% of the work has been getting the red in to the scheme. Hat, armor, axe...

Group, final team size to be decided

Chaide, The Mirror-Master and a "Solar Cultist"-concept

Riding the tide of reincarnation.

"Congratulations on finding a new way ahead. The layered effect on the red(ish) robe is stunning. Weathery and almost ethereal. Woven of a mix of silk and fog!

I look forward to see more of this from you. You are slowly becoming my favourite meteorologist... "

-FPOA

That was such motivating and beautiful way to put things that is has really propelled this project along.

Been working on the mirror master and Chaide models on and off for a year. Both have very clear typologies, just tweaked in a gothic way. The mirror master is Woodoo, meets Farseeing, meets 40K. Chaide an Angel of Death. The Solar Cultist is a brand new start and depending on the twists and turns of the creative process might end up in the Legion project or "Good" continent of the trilogy. I've yet to meet the character properly to know which +I+ is inducting his services. I think that is a key thing to understand in how my characters evolve, how much in flux things are up to paint and sometimes beyond.

Snapped a quick iPhone pic last night. I also wanted to share a fuzzy one from earlier that shows the "WARP RED" palette compared to "Moonlight Red" and just regular "Moonlight Legion" palettes.

Spirit of noxious immateria, be gone from hence, for as the Emperor of Mankind, manifold be his blessings, watches over me, so I will not fear the shadow of the warp

Of Heinous heresies, thrice damned, Alban Silas, rogue Inquisitor.

Targets “Red Kraken, Red Rat and Red Raven.”

My Lords,

Penned and attached is a detailed report of the operation as the third anniversary of our task dawns.

Today we caught and exterminated “Red Raven”  at a cost of Brother Stermon, Chapter 666, most of Kill Team Fleshborer, Inquisitor Rybikov and Interrogator Junger . May the Emperor bless them. It appears there might be two of them, but we definitely killed this one and have the remains stasis shielded and in transit. It is a peculiar thing. Target “Meatloaf”, (see datasheet attached, and thus named), is believed to have been killed too. Apart from significant tissue and liquid collect (estimate 8% of body mass), no body was recovered however.

Full report is being drafted, but I thought you should know of the feat and some fresh disturbing findings.

We have a reason to believe “Red Raven” was being hunted, assisted, or someway aligned by an unidentified Xenos element. It seems they left us a message. A card not entirely dissimilar to those in the Tarot Deck. Two sage’s have died processing the information. The most accurate translation we have managed to put together is: “He who walks with daemons, now masters the anathema. The Immateria incarnate, the key between realms”. See the pictograms. Be advised, the symbols cause severe nausea and risk of cardiac arrest. (according to sage 1 & 2, on scene post mortems)

We think we have a tail on “Red Rat”. Target yield probability 87%. We are tracking three prospective targets, with Kill Teams on stand by (on the scene) and the 666th element in transit.

I am asking for urgent Officio Assassinorum dispatch. Both Culeux and Callidus Temples. Your immediate support is greatly appreciated and requested.

Several new leads and alignments have been grouped under a new majoris target named “Red Seer”. Interrogators Levenson and Bache are on it, with several assets from my team and your militia.

I would bet my mansion there will be an exterminatus severe incident within months. If the sick freak really has an anathema that incident could happen anywhere. Indeed, we have drawn blank for 8 months now on his where about. Last sighting is still on Reef C779, attached for your convenience)

When can we meet?

Yours,

Riekens & Marco

Weapon Smith Borsus - only detail work and cleaning left!

Final decisions to make, what goes into the right arm.

1. A revolver for anyone/anything getting too close. The other weapon is like a full auto rocket launcher launcher with flux-core payload, lethal to the wielder if the guy is in the same room. I like the idea of two guns

2. A short sword from GK Termies look ace on him too - really works with his physique and "butcher look.

Otherwise, some cleaning in on the gs, a few spikes and small detail on the shoulder guard, two purity seals and that weapon choice.

I am very pleased with this model - big part is the paint job, which I can already see in my head. (Jury is still out for Valencia and Alter Daemon for example) But the base is the best I've ever done. Such a simple thing really, the end of the pipe, but with a small touch of vallejo sandy paste and the right paint job, it'll be the icing on the cake - well the rust under the fat? I've developed a great method of splintering the plastic bits I use which creates a perfect edge for the basing. Or "perfect" in terms of what I am after.

Here be pics. I've decided all the WIP pics come out of the iPhone now, and all the finished work from the Lumix G3 when I get it. Ease and strength of communication really, less photoshop work.

And one more of Alben, with the iPhone, range of red missing a bit, but more accurate hue than in previous pics!

Motley Crew!

+++

It cost us dearly. Not all my warriors agreed, or coped. Vhystor killed the Chaplain. Saved me the work I pain to admit. Nanda and Jahrl Wurst were caught by the Grey Knights. The Ordos all together killed 47 of my staff and erased the assets they could find, The Cliffloft on Terra, safe houses on Dressen, Melior and Necromunda. Eventually the Traders were brought down by the Navy. They killed Borsus twice, yet there he stands. I believe all of the Ordos declared us Heretics, Malleus Diabolica Majoris I believe. Quite a career move.
They are wrong.
No team can match our tally. No other Inquisitor meet our ambition.
I still have a heart.
It’s pure! and 6’2”. Sister Valencia, Repentia Illuminati, Fugitive and master pathfinder. Trained seraphim first class, before her incident. She took a wrong turn during the penitence, learned to track and hunt with the Kroot Mercs and ended up in the hive game, syndicate business. She is invaluable. I love her.
The Master can cheat death - a gift in this trade. Peculiar, ancient being. A recluse, with a way with mirrors and seeing. They all want his service, the cults, the ordos... Works for us now. I am permission to cross boundaries and means to get the best tools.
Borsus, the weapon smith. The team always called him Meatloaf. I blame my upbringing for not sticking with the name.  Tough as they come, stitched together more times than he can care to count. 300 pounds of instinctive cunning, gangs over school, violence over words, speed beyond all that mass. Over weight, over powered. Borsus has a way with guns. They make him smile.
“Nevvie and Chaide”, nicknamed after the classic refcast strip. Master Orsos made them before he was killed. Psychological warfare, that hollow steel can take and deal a beating. Lewis loves to drop them from the cutter.
Lewis is the pilot. Never see him around. Even with the massive cutter around him. He’s stealth, reflexes and skill keep saving us. Maybe the Master is overkill? Posh and well articulated, Lewis loves his craft and only leaves it to inspect it really.

That’s us, re-focused and re-arming.

I am getting in the mood for this gang. Something has clicked with each of the =I=trilogy projects. My own bar for the final part, the good will be quite high - it needs to be really different and really accurate.

So inspired by John's Guest Starring, and some of the other conversions my mates are doing, I wanted to make something different out of the Nurgle guy. To really stamp personality on him. The pose being all close combaty, I felt a shooter would be a great way to stand out from the Ork Nob two-handed closecombatweapon conversions and alike.

In both of my projects writing short stories has proved a lot of inspiration, so I penned something simple together to get in the mood and dived in.

This will be my favorite model in the gang so far. Sometimes you wait until the finished piece to know if it works or not. This guy is going to work. His physique is going to beautifully underline the differences in the gang. Borsus will be right facing, to flank Inquisitor Silas with Valencia.

Here's a WIP shot from the iPhone, the green-stuff still being worked on.

The "Bad" gang taking shape.

Lately due to a very special transition period between jobs, I've had only one area to exercise my creative whims, research inspiration, play with ideas and execute as accurately as possible. The hobby.

I've only had an hour or so every other day to put into it, but with so much of it happening in my head that when I sit down, it's just executing what I've come up with and I've been surprisingly productive. After a frantic session I then reflect the results for a few days while being buried with paperwork, phone calls and emails.

Today I present to you two "non-player" Characters for a future =I=munda scenario, a Rogue Trader and his Cherub. They will be painted in the Legion and Rhisienne environment and relating palette. Those who frequent dakka have seen them earlier in the summer.

In addition there's the first sighting of the Alter Daemon, which is essentially the ghoul-king from the undead Dragon kit with two minor but important conversions: 1. repositioning the feet for the new base and 2. a tail which shows badly from this angle but really adds to the "evil" feel of the model. I mentioned earlier why Alex Hedström as I see it is the most able sculptor in terms of utilizing new technology, and here he has achieved an unparalleled level of muscle detail and sublime surface texture. Paiting this model will be a joy and should really fit my watercolorly painterly style better than some other model perhaps.

And the mirror master (essentially my third "pimp my wizard" as per the dakka contest seen here: DAKKA. This is the model I am most excited to finish converting as it is a very new and different typology, and I simply want to show what I have in mind. It includes using real, but tiny mirrors. It may be also the first ever model I have to paint in parts, as the capes and hair will be blocking a lot of the inner body and the mirrors themselves should remain paint/primer free, with just few thin ink and varnish glazes. I am currently testing these.

I hope to have as many models primed as possible, before packing everything for quite sometime for the move.

Pimp my wizard finished

I'm quite happy with the model but very disappointed with my camera's ability to photograph red. It's been unlike any previous hobby project+photo taking. I think those of you who've followed my work for a bit, know for a fact this tirade is very rare. Getting excited and achieving a red with so much variation (like the blue of the Legion marines really) with out it looking pink or orange anywhere, and then utter frustration trying to take photos.

I was also very happy with the face and eyes and how they visually strongly connect to his smoldering fingers. But yeah... the pic... anyway.

In fact it has been frustrating to the extent that I won't continue with the retinue until getting a proper camera, and am instead starting on the Twist Tusk, as I picked up the Thunder Tusk kit today.

Here's Lord Alben Silas, Inquisitor, Ordos Terra, Ordo Malleus.

Updated Valencia

Almost ready for priming now.

She has the weapon arms in place, both "custom builds" that will be further "specialized" with painting. I've also built tiny imperial grav engines that carry an Inquisitorial decree that bears Alben's personal chalice sigil and pronounces his nemesis Excommunicate Traitoris. Partly the composition of model benefitted from this, partly I want a lot of "cloth" in this retinue and partly I want these figures to be very detailed and have small detail that tie them together, to the Inquisitor himself.

Clothing Sister Valencia

Little bit of sculpting done. A layer of finish & detail to add, then gluing on the arms: bolt pistol and chain sword - the classics. I'm starting to get excited of this model. I plan to do the various bionic parts in dark bronze, with a hint of purple, alabaster skin, dark hair, and some red marking and weapon detail to tie in with Inquisitor Alben Silas.

I mentioned earlier she is the "good" in the group and mainly there to make others look truly bad, but having said that, I want an odd, ill setting undercurrent to her. A true sister repentia wife.

Buzz of activity and excitement.

Dear All,

We are legionne!

The start of this blog has been a fantastic experience and I would like to thank everyone reading. I could not be happier of the ongoing discussions, both in terms of quantity and quality! Thanks in particular to J.B., Malika and Fulgrim. I would also like to thank for the very kind words received here and at some great hobby blogs who've shared this one to their readers.

Take this great blog for an example: Tears of Envy

It seems ilk it was a good idea to come out from the confines of dakkadakka for a change. Speaking of Dakka, this weekend is the deadline for the Pimp My Wizard invitational ran my PDH and Bai, so I will have some pics for you. I've yet to conquer taking good pics of red though, but lets see how it goes.

On personal side it's been an adventure of a life time and we are moving to San Francisco because of my work. The coming months will be extremely busy, so bare with me.

migs

I've taken the opportunity to share a pic from my latest trip to San Francisco. Odd inspiration perhaps, but this blog is odd, and the hobby is odd - odd in a good way. This is how I want my tomatoes to look. Look at the variety and character, the colors and size. It's all organic too. Our life is becoming so dictated by standards and models forced upon you, that it's increasingly important to celebrate tomatoes!

Hobby Friendship

We all have our hobby friends, real-life and inter web kind. They make the hobby. Nothing like a paint fest with a good friend, or a round of gaming with a few, or just talking endlessly about plastic things and Abnett's imagination. We used to have a nice compact group and I've also cumulated a great circle of friends through the hobby forums.

But one friend is a friend of friends when it comes to the hobby. A guy with whom I became the hobbyist I am, the converter I am, the painter I am, the story teller I am. (so blame him it isn't good ;) ) Batman and Robin, Robin and Batman. Laurel & Hardy. Alpharius & Alpharius.

His name is Hammer. We both live in Helsinki, but met through Dakkadakka in 2000. We've taken turns to win best painted/army in every single tournament we went to here. We've had so many amazing games, painting sessions and talking hobby days over the years that we feel like family. We are like night and day, yet we get along great. I've lived a few years abroad without missing a hobby beat upon return.

Together we worked up =I=munda, the 28mm skirmishRPGmodelingmachine that combines Necro engine, house rules, =I=fluff and imagery and as much RPG elements as possible. That is our current fix. We've slowed down, Hammer's never had any ability to concentrate and I've never had any sense in my projects. But going skirmish yields results.

This is how =I=munda take one - The Jade Vessel - ended up and this is Hammer's gang

So today I had a very nice 5hour session with Hammer.

Inquisitor Alben Silas is now finished. Furthermore I did a round of sculpting on Sister Valecia, or sis Val, as she is known in the business (bounty or ordos, I believe the sororities have a less charming name for her). I was inspired to push it a little after Jakob's  and Hammer's absolutely fantastic sculpt work on the same model. I hope I get to share pics before I travel on sunday. I did the hair in a combination of sculpting the GS, an adding thin sausages of gs that flow very naturally and the end result was a surprising success. By no means perfect, but somehow surprising is almost as good :)

I also hope to try painting see-through-fabric with her for the first time. So I sculpted a skimpy top too. Avoiding silly D cup breasts and opting for just too much show for gothic unease. Now left is gluing the arms + custom bolt pistol I've built and chainsword (weapon choice to tie well into existing imagery and typologies, with so much off the charts characters coming up next), some purity seals and small bionic detail. I also want steel caps of some sort.

Also Hammer's now seen the red in person, so at least one other person knows how it really looks. All my efforts to photograph it suck pixel.

The hobby is really about friendship, about inspiring and being inspired and sharing the fun. So Marko, Jussi, Tube, Jakob, Peter, Aaron... and so many other great friends and hobbyists - thanks for all the fun!

Inquisitor Trilogy: Bad! + "Pimp My Wizard"

Recently a duo of great modeling minds: "PDH" and "Baiyun" got together at Dakka and decided to host a friendly invitational in the honor of the fantastic new Brian Nelson wizards. Simple goal to convert one to a 40k model. They were kind enough to invite me along too:

"Pimp My Wizard" at Dakka"

A fantastic celebration of the best aspects of the hobby. Creativity, dedication, friendly banter, common goal and a variety of styles and approaches at play.

This was an excuse to start working on the "bad" continent of my =I=nquisitor trilogy, the joint effort and collegial challenge being the best of motivators, and here is the first piece of background story and a few WIP pics with some captions. I'm keeping the finished =I= hidden for now - to show it with the other contestants. Needless to say - the Inquisition being a hobby love affair, and the bad aspect enabling so much mobility in terms of character development, I only hope I'd have more hours in a day.

A Red Storm Rising

I traveled in the rotten carcass of a long dead elevatorum engine. All 244 floors of the derelict hab block flashing through where the doors of it once were. Glorious wave of sparks shot down after the engine like an afterburner. I like to make an entrance, that is why. Slight psy frost begun to cover the engine, a side effect of my telekinesis.

I knew what awaited me at the top. Because I was there as I am here. I willed the murdermake, or rather directed the absolute onslaught. I tasted the blood and watched every single one of them die.

A beautiful mechanical chime announced my arrival and I walked in to the main hall. The smell of blood was quite intoxicating through two separate noses. The cohort of witches surrounded my price, tightly packed behind a wall of vortex brought alive through their dark sorcery. My Alter-Daemon paced around the warp barrier. Such brilliant tool, such a cost to acquire it.

He cost me, it cost me. It cost me in resources and in the trust of much of the Ordos, narrow minded as they were, are, in the face of new, groundbreaking weaponry. Ignorantly labeled as a Daemon Host. They do not understand the forging of an Alter, of the genetic link and chain of control I project on the beast. It cost me much of my war-band, great warriors all of them. Oh yes, it also cost some dozens of collateral lives before I full mastered it. It cost me most of all.

But such a daemon. A bargain.

I burned through the feeble wall. They were powerful psykers, but not close to what power I posses, not close to the training they gave me, and I made their hearts explode. Not taking any chances, too eager to start.

I entered his mind, he and I blinked.

And I saw through his eyes. Through his eye to be exact. Into my eyes. I felt his terror, but it was overpowered by intellectual thirst. It was sublime. Such a clear and purposeful mind. The Mirrormaster, Lord Seer, Hereticus Diabolicus, sector threat three. There was I, cowled in ethereal alien robe. Cream in color, projecting the symbols of my trade on its surface. Encased in crimson carapace, wrought by master artificers to protect from harm and to provoke dread in equal measure; and to integrate the incredible psychic hood from Titan. A compact seismic hammer in hand and the vampire blade sleeping its endless nightmares in its protective alloy scarab. Another special piece made in the forgeries of Titan when such places would still cater for me.

I felt them before hearing them, before seeing them through his one eye.

Nevvie & Chaide set down besides me. Their huge, impossibly complex, synthetic wings a whirl that ultimately suspended them a few feet from ground. I was to make a job offer. Chaide carried the reward I would promise. Nevvie the tools for signing.

I blinked back with an understanding.

Lets begin.

I've let my mind run riot. And had some fun!

The Mirror Master will be a disturbing mix of woodoo priest with a big hat that hides eyeing apparatus (like a swiss cookoo clock) and a locksmith with intricate tools. He cheats death through his craft, and collects psyberskulls to carry his mirrors around him for perfect angles. His breath stinks of hive grade amasec and rotting teeth.

I did some of my favorite hobby work the other day - organizing all the bits for coming conversions. I'm spoiled with bits these days as I've slowed down and not doing many armies anymore I can pick all the quality sculpts and go town. Clearly more than half of the models I now buy are WHFB stuff that gets converted into 40k worlds.

The Alter Daemon is the new Ghoul King from the Undead Dragon box and needs very minor conversion - though I'm entertaining a very surprising head swap...

My plan for the Wingkins is that they are servitors crafted with only one purpose - to freak you ought. In a universe where every race is designed to freak you ought, I need to push a little harder and be a bit creative how that will happen. Terror drones. Not much flesh remains. Two of them.

And the final model in the retinue will be a Sister Repentia. She will be the anchor. The little good that shows how bad the others are. I'm introducing some new character concepts, so it's good to have the =I= and someone else who is kosher 40k. With a twist of course.

As with Lord Silas, I Painted a bit more on the cape. Looking at him as an individual, I'm thinking I should've gone for a very dark cape instead, but the darker creatures around him, I think my overall vision for the entitity - trilogy part 3 - the bad - works. Only small detail and effects to add on Lord Silas now. So only the most enjoyable parts left + base which always caps of my work and feels immensely rewarding as you know you're almost done. My bases are a little bit like a signature for classical artists.

Behind this work, is =I=munda, a longing for another proper Hammer & Northen & Migs & new guys =I=munda is back, take two, masterful campaign that surpasses all campaigns. I would finish the terrain, and add some more. It's my remaining hobby dream left, much more dear than going to GDs or playing in tournaments again. That one day there is part 2 to our =I=munda adventure. We'd all build two new gangs, or one more, so we'd have an "evil" and "less evil;)" gang to play with, and have more narrative scope and team play potential. And even more back stabbing and surprises.

Here's Sister Valencia, Repentia Illuminati, Fugitive of Haros and the resident pathfinder.

NOTE: I've purposefully used the daemonette head for the large, lidless eyes and glued tiny bionic eye parts on them, to rep some of her war gear and to build on a scheme of =I= given enhancements. She will get sculpted, torn shirt that will be suitably explicit, and I'll look into folding the front of her tabard, to mimic the wind blowing from the base. Lots of small things going on, and I am quite excited of the start.

In terms of character development, I want a Sister of Battle with all the combat training and zeal to start with, wrongfully punished and shamed, who went through hell and back, and is the only kind (if ruthless) soul in the band. Her years in the clandestine service of =I= Silas, in the hives and border lands of the Imperium, has greatly influenced her attire. She has taken a martyr attitude towards the sororitas and their polished look and embraced the augments that let her kill the emperors enemies with greater precision. She is Silas' "heart", trying to keep the master in the Emperor's light during the black pit that is their journey to deliver Justice. Hanging in her neck is a single blessed bolt gun round - for Silas, if and when the great enemy conquers.
