Skitari operatives - the first six are done.

The exciting advent of Warhammer 7th edition has slowed down my drive to finish all twenty, not knowing what happens to the allied Matrix and what not, but the energy to work on more Mechanicus stuff hasn't gone anywhere. I really want to build some crazy, more detailed and esoteric Magos types next, plus the flying automaton.

  1. wow, i hated the red arm on the single guy but in a group, the arms really ties the unit together

  2. I still can't get over how good the centurions look. The styling of the armour without the big pads and shields is excellent. The hooded heads set them off really well. I went and bought a box just because yours looked so good.

It'll be interesting how the new edition will influence the creation of allied lists. With this unbound thing you could do some really esoteric lists.

The scions are really different, which is good. Just removing those massive power feeds helps the balance of the model immeasurably.

I'm interested how you will go about a Magos. I've collected a number of bits for mine but nothing has formed yet. I guess there are a number of directions one could take, depending on what sort of magos it's supposed to be.

    1. Thanks Evan. I want to do something suitably OTT for the magus. Currently thinking it will use bike mounted space marine hero rules.

  3. Bollocks to the new edition putting a damper on anything! (kidding) But on a serious note, build what you like :D

This lot looks amazing. I look forward to seeing the rest.

  4. Hey Migs - I was in the "what the heck" red arm camp. On the larger group it looks better than on a single model. The guns are bloody great! The grey black parts look really simple to paint but are really effective.

  5. I am curious how this new edition may shape your army. The subtle conversion work on the scions matched with your grim dark painting style really shaped up nicely on those 'scions'. Though I am curious still about your centurions, what did you use as the socket/ joint on the missile launcher arm? The part attached to the inside of the launcher.

    1. I went back to check and it's the Dreadknight arm support/piston thing ball joint half :) I had plenty to spare from my dreadnought conversions.

  6. So is that a combination of dreadknight and dreadnaught sockets or just one or the other?
