More henchmen and a Lady

A quick update.

I have been traveling around the US, so limited hobby time, but surprising productivity and I had the pleasure to read the Unremembered Empire by Abnett.

The Lady deserves much better photos eventually, but I will paint the henchmen first. These are Von Lochov's private militia and should be heaps of fun to paint. Some green, different metallics, blue details & markings and that worn white armor.

I also have mission objectives in the works that are coming together rather nicely. Trying to capture little moments in space. More about those later.

  1. The Lady looks amazing! Looks like you used a Dark Eldar wych as the base for her head? Did you sculpt the hair using green stuff? Good work!

  2. The Lady is great! But the Hencemen are really nice. Very simple conversion, but very effective. Like them very much! :D

  4. Echoing Turska's comment: The green hue dominating the lady is fantastic. Awsome.

  5. Echo the comments on the lady's green but that steely grey of her legs is just pure awesome! Exactly how I pictured the grey of Grey Knights, rather than the silver GW often does. Mind sharing your recipe?

    1. Thanks. The grey is actually metallic, and there is indeed a "trade secret" to it. From Jakob fittingly. I used humbrol enamel metal paint to finish it off.

I also like to use really thin ink washes on my metals, rather than the GW washes, and feel like they compliment and smooth the metallics much nicer.

  6. Wonderful Migs. I am still impressed by the power of shooting on that beautiful desk. In this case the green of the Lady is brought to the fore by the golden brown and Blanchitsu reds of the setting.

  7. I have identified all of the bits that have made up this lady except the armored legs. Would you care to share what kit they had come from?

  8. Ok, here is the breakdown of the painted 'lady' miniature:
1x Female Dark Eldar Kabalite head (goofy pony tail removed)
1x Female Dark Eldar Kabalite body (goofy spikey bits removed and =][= symbol added to abdomen)
1x Dark Eldar Kabalite legs (goofy spikes and annoying wedges removed from knee pads)
1x Dark Eldar Kabalite left arm (Agonizer or venom b
1x Dark Eldar Scourage/witch right arm (hand removed to fit sword hand on or hand removed from sword...)
1x Empire Battle Wizard Sword right hand (non-flaming version)
1x Grey Knight Tilt Shield with Icon
    1x Bolt pistol
1x Flagellant book or Grey Knight Terminator tome

So far, I cannot identify the targeter device on her shoulder, therefore I cannot itemize the bit to be included in this list. Perhaps Mig can fill us in on that bit...?

    1. Spot on as far as I can recall :) The targeted is a filed to shape Terminator targeted.

  9. Mig,
Can we get a back shot of both the lady and the henchmen?

    1. Sure. I'll try and get my act together with the henchmen and then do photos of all angles of the lot.

  10. That green is lovely twinned with the cool steel, i have been wanting to paint something up in apple green for a while - then Kari did his lovely slaaneshi cultist - and now you with this lady , both are perfect imo and provide plenty of inspiration - just had to mention i looked through the photos on flickr for the first time last night, they are just beautiful, simply the best collection of photographed models i have seen - the full screen mode really lends itself to your photography.

    1. Thank you very much Neil! Much appreciated and well timed. Currently just painting up the henchmen. 8 models in one go feels like such a mountain these days... And thanks for the kind words on the FLICKR account. It really is great platform to share images. Hoping to do a proper shoot when these guys are done as I've finished quite a few things since doing the army shoot.
